Choosing The Perfect Beach Wedding Dress

By

If you are planning a destination wedding and it happens to be the beach then you’re in the right place! Any bride will agree that finding the perfect wedding dress is one of the most important decisions to be made for that special day! Traditional wedding dresses aren't necessarily the best option for beach weddings due to many reasons. Here we will discuss what are great options to ensure comfort as well as personal style for the bride-to-be.

When we think about going to the beach, we imagine cool ocean breeze, the warm sand in our toes, the beautiful blue sky, and the feeling of openness and freedom. These things make the beach an attractive alternative to the traditional outdoor wedding. Let's use this as our guidelines as we discuss and visualize many wedding gown options available for this particular venue.

What constitutes a beach wedding dress? What factors should we be looking at to determine if the dress is appropriate? The key is to find a balance between what can be worn comfortably to the beach while still keeping the style and personality of the bride.

Beach wedding dresses should be light in material with little or no stuffing. Some examples would be silk, satin, chiffon, or linen. The last thing you would want is for your wedding dress to heavily drag behind you and hinder your elegant and graceful march down the isle. Let the breezy ambiance of the beach work alongside with you dress to give you a lighter than air appearance as you float towards your the love of your life!

Short And Sassy Beach Wedding Dress

Oooo la la!! This short and sassy beach wedding gown definitely lends itself to the beachy atmosphere! The length allows the bride to walk effortlessly down the isle. We don’t have to worry about heavy material being long and dragging in this dress! With the lingerie like neckline, spaghetti straps, and beautiful lace details, it’s definitely a stunning look for any bride confident and spunky enough to wear it. As she should be, she will absolutely be the center of attention during the ceremony and well into the reception party!

All About The Lace

As beautiful as the above dress is, it's definitely not the taste of most brides. The following two dresses are much longer, but notice that the bottoms are made mostly of a lace material that's splendid for this venue. This ensures that the bottom is not heavy and will glide elegantly with the bride and smoothly across the sand. The first wedding gown's style is approprately known a mermaid style of dress. Mermaid wedding gowns hug the frame of the bride starting right above the bust down to about mid-thigh and then loosens out to create the mermaid silhouette. The lacy veil on the second a line gown is exquisitely beach appropriate as it will flow behind the bride will be carried by the wind to create an artistic backdrop. Both gowns harmoniously blend with the beach ambiance, while still allowing the bride a more traditional look!

The Casual Wedding Dress

Casual is definitely a word used to describe the attire when considering taking a trip to the beach. Why not when it comes to your wedding? This too can be carried out while still maintaining the elegance and sophistication of this memorable day! Many brides today are opting for that casual look when choosing a dress appropriate for the beach. They are focused more on the comfort aspect and the ability to freely enjoy themselves on their big day and not have to worry about the limitations that some wedding dresses may impose. This dress definitely fits the bill. It is still a beautiful dress that compliments the bride and she will be able to join in all the festivities uninhibited. If she wants to take a stroll along the shore with her new hubby she need not worry about ruining her dress.

Shoes Fit For The Beach

Picking the right shoes to go along with your wedding theme is very important when having a beach wedding. Be sure to pick shoes that are appropriate for walking in the sand. If your reception area is indoors you may want to choose two pairs of shoes, one for indoor and the other for outdoor. Open toe shoes would be ideal so that sand and water does not collect in the shoe making the bride very uncomfortable. Some brides opt to go barefoot in the sand, but be careful because sand can get very hot depending on the outside temperature. There are many foot accessories available to adorn a barefoot bride. Not only are they beach appropriate, but they also act as jewerly that accentuates the gown she has chosen to wear.
